Entering the parkway is akin to passing through a door where, on the other side, there is calm, peace, a slowed pace of living with time to walk and time to look at the beauty of simple things.
Outstanding photographs surround the photographer in the mountains. Bright sunshine glistens off green rhododendron or shimmering icicles along old wooden fences built by the CCC during the 1930s. There are waterfalls, rushing streams over old rocks, fish jumping and birds abundant. And the fog is great for photography as it brings the subject to the foreground. It is such a satisfying feeling to ramble up a winding road lined with thick trees and bushes and rock walls to suddenly break out into a beautiful view. Some are panoramic views, some are what remains of old farms in these mountains. Springtime dogwoods decorate rustic views like lace on a plain dress. It is satisfying to stand, look, and imagine the families that lived and worked here, all witnessed by the flowering dogwoods
