As a photographer, I became fascinated by what the use of strobe lights could accomplish. I experimented with them for years and always was amazed at the results.
Rodeos were scheduled at the Charlotte Coliseum a few times each year, and I decided to try my hand at getting a picture of a rider and bull going at it full tilt. A strobe acted as a stop-action control so that the camera had enough light to take a fast-moving picture more accurately in a dark environment. Even I was surprised at how high the bull got into the air! And what impact was exacted on the brave rider! What had been violent and fearful became a dance in midair.
