The woman in this photograph was working at a tobacco warehouse in Lumberton during a tobacco auction. Back in the 1950s, most people enjoyed being photographed. Hard work and satisfaction of a job well done seemed to breed a different attitude of self gratification. Later, as the 1960s brought change and confrontation in the South, it was not so easy to record these wonderful faces.
