Of all the homes I've photographed, Monticello is the most beautiful to me. And when the interior lights come on at dusk, I have the feeling that Mr. Jefferson is inside reading by a warm fire. I arrived to photograph this beautiful structure while an archaeological dig was being conducted on the surrounding grounds. As the sun sank lower in the sky, the more incredible the light became cast on the house's exterior. The deep blue of an evening sky punctuated with one evening star completed the perfect photographic setting.
