Ocracoke Island Lighthouse is located on Ocracoke Island, a natural paradise. It is located at the southern tip of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Completed in 1823, it is near the legendary Teach's Hole where Blackbeard is said to have frequently hid his pirate ships amidst the many isolated spots along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was also near here that the pirate met his demise and legend has it that he still roams the place. Ocracoke has beautiful, white-sand beaches where island life operates on island time. I love to visit here time and again as the surrounding nature and friendly islanders only lend more beauty to this old lighthouse.
