Storms cover up and uncover shipwrecks along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This is what is left of the Laura A. Barnes,  that wrecked near Bodie Island Lighthouse in 1921 on Coquina Beach. These old bones of the schooner remind us of the power of wind and water to push a gigantic ship ashore. The young boy lived near the shipwreck and visited it frequently and had miles of tales he had imagined about pirates and hidden treasure. Imagine growing up with miles of empty sands to run and shipwrecks for trees to climb and explore.
