While attempting to find a picture of a Cherokee Indian in a native headdress, I ran across this perfect face. What this Native is doing is called “chiefing.” Translated, it means to dress up in a western American traditional chief’s headdress made famous by the Westerns (movies). For this effort to dress and pose for a picture, he charged one dollar a click–a bit of enterprising. I took two pictures, so he charged me a couple of bucks. I love his expression–all Cherokee.

I then found out from other Natives that the authentic headdress for a Cherokee was a headband and only three feathers, which earned highest respect.
